The caves of Arkansas are primarily located in the Ozark Highlands in the northern part of the state. For a safe and comfortable experience of well-decorated caves, we recommend taking guided tours of the state’s show caves.
Blanchard Spring Caverns in Ozark National Forest is the crown jewel of Arkansas show caves. Both the Discovery Tour and the Wild Cave Tour are exceptional, though seasonal.
Other show caves include: Bull Shoals Caverns, War Eagle Cavern, Spanish Treasure Cave, Cosmic Cavern, Onyx Cave, and Mystic Caverns.
Due to White Nose Syndrome, most caves on public lands, including those along the Buffalo National River, are currently closed. However, Eden Falls Cave at Lost Valley remains open for exploration.
In our opinion, the best way to see Arkansas caves is in their natural state, by joining a trip with the BMG or another Arkansas grotto. You will be required to follow NSS conservation guidelines. If you join us, be prepared to get muddy, wet, cold, hot, tired—and did we mention muddy?
